Layers and color washes
Ghost Layers and color washes is about
layers of transparency. We will work
with an 36” format creating a quilt that
includes a base layer, the ghost layer consists of several shapes that float in
and out of the base and then the paint layer created with watercolor paint. All
layers are then combined and fabric colors and values worked out.
Ghost Layers and color washes(多層次陰影重疊及水彩沖刷技法)
多層次陰影重疊及水彩沖刷技法是有關於多層次透明影象重疊的技法，將會完成作品尺寸為36英吋(大約90公分)大小的作品，包括基礎的底層主體及重疊虛幻透明的影子。這些影子是利用水彩畫出的顏色及利用布的顏色創造出所有層次，影子可以是從在基礎底層的主體的裡或外，利用顏色的份量共同結合做出作品。

1. Photograph
for base layer that you will add ghost and colors to.
請準備基礎的照片，利用這個基礎照片加上出多層次虛影技巧及顏色。

½ x 11 works best. This can be anything, flowers, landscapes, buildings,
abstract, traditional quilt pattern, anything that you would like to add
transparencies and additional colors to.
請將照片拿去照相館放大到8 1/2X11英寸(約22X28公分)，照片可以是花，或風景畫，建築物，抽象畫，甚至是拼布的傳統pattern。可以使用任何您想要的圖片加上透明重疊層次及額外的顏色。

brush, 3" foam brush (art supply or hardware store) a small
plate, (can be foam meat trays or white picnic plates), container for water, 3
small tubes of water color paint from these colors, (choose 3) red,
yellow, orange, blue, green and purple. 3 colored pencils to match the
colors you choose.
2. 2吋(約6公分)的刷子，3吋(約9公分的海綿刷)—美術用品店或五金行有售。一個小盤子(可用保麗龍盤或者紙盤)。裝水容器，3小管水彩顏料(顏色請從紅黃橘藍綠紫中挑出三個顏色)，三個顏色的色鉛筆，請要配合您所選擇的水彩顏料顏色。

釘書機及額外的訂書針，0.1的簽字筆(參考相片黑色美工用的細字簽字筆)-任何廠牌皆可。
Sewing
Machine, Darning foot, monophilament thread, backing and batting if you are a
fast worker and think you might get that far.
縫紉車及腳踏板(已經準備，不需要帶)，請準備透明線，手快的朋友可以做到三層壓線的階段，所以請準備機縫鋪棉(90X90)及背布(1碼)
4. Fabrics
in the colors you want to use,

different colors that match the 3 tubes of paint you have chosen for the water
color layer) sorted into 7 different
values of each.
4.帶來您想要用的布料，三種布料個顏色配合您所帶來的三管水彩的顏色，這三個顏色又必須分出7個明暗度(有需要的朋友請告訴我，我可以給您色彩明度表給您參考也可利用手機或者是智慧相機黑白拍攝)。
Make
separate piles of each of the steps, step 1 being white and very pale shades of
the color, step 2 being a little darker, on through all of the steps to step 7
which will be black and very dark shades of the color.
分類的步驟如下，第一步找出白色及非常接近白色的顏色，第二步，找出在暗一點的顏色，順著步驟慢慢分類到第七步就是黑色或者是非常暗的顏色。
Have
several pieces in each of the steps for each of the different colors you choose
to work with. That would be a minimum of 3 in each step times 7 steps for at
least 21 different pieces for each of the different colors times 3 different
colors for at least 63 fabrics. The more fabrics you have to choose from the
easier it will be. You will not need very much of any one color fat eights or
thirds of a yard should be enough.
經過這幾個步驟，將您選擇的這幾個不同的顏色，可以產生出3個色相(顏色)7個色調(明暗度)也就是3X7=21個布塊
再延伸出去，再加三套(三個顏色三次)顏色，共9次就是63個顏色的布塊。這是挑選布料最簡單的方法，布量不需要太多，每種顏色就是一尺或者1/8碼(橫切的1/8碼，非長條)
63塊布要收齊並且帶來非常重，請參考老師的網站:

Keep
these in the separate steps by putting a paper spacer between them in a shoe
box or transport them in zip lock bags. Sorting is the most time consuming,
please bring them sorted and I will help fine tune the steps in class. If you
like working with black and white prints bring them in the seven steps as well.
If you want to use some of the colors from the photogaph with the water color
washes over them then you will need to bring those fabrics as well
